1860 Slave Census: George Lynes held 55 slaves in 1860 according to this census. Unfortunately the list does not include names. If you look closely, you can see that they are grouped as families and singles. Perhaps some single mothers. It is not necessarily a randomized list. 



By 1866 the war was over and emancipation freed the slaves. It can be presumed that some of the people enumerated above are included in the Freedman's Contract lists seen below:
