Afterwards, two important family sites will be open for visits, including:
-
St. James Goose Creek Chapel of Ease / Bethlehem Baptist Church site (which we have bought, and are in process of restoring). This is where Samuel Lynes 1776, his wife Elizabeth, his two sons "The Rev Samuel Lynes" and George Lynes, and their wives, are buried, as well as other cousins. It is located at the 22 mile marker on Old 52, at Avanti Lane. Handouts will be available there and here: Handout
-
Groomsville Baptist Church and Cemetery, moved to this site from the above in 1888. Many more family members are buried in this churchyard. Handout
People will be on site at each place with handouts and be ready to tell the story of each place and answer questions. 10 am until everyone is gone.
Directions:
- To find the church on Saturday: This is actually in the community known as Macedonia, 7.7 miles north of the Tail Race Canal, exactly on US 17A, on the left as you are going north. We are very excited; there is plenty of room, tables, chairs, counter space, large kitchen, and of course, plenty of parking!
- Sunday: see the handouts linked above.
Please let everyone in your family know about this.
If you would like us to mail someone a postcard, or if you don't get one but want one,
Yes it will be HOT since this is in August, but the building is air conditioned in the modern way. :-)
Exhibitors:
- As mentioned above, we will have people from various branches of the family set up displays, so if you have not yet been asked but have a desire to have a table for a display, let us know.
- Also, if you have done some research that you are ready to share, or have any reason to be put on the agenda, let us know.
- If you have pictures that need to be scanned, or old letters, or items of inheritance you want to show or discuss, please let us know. We are trying to find all we can.
Questions? Comments? Remarks?

* a note about the name: When referring to the old plantation home, we spell it "Fox Bank." When referring to the development of homes now occupying the site, we spell it "Foxbank."
